Brownfields

A Brownfield site is defined as an abandoned, idled, or underused industrial or commercial facility where expansion or redevelopment is complicated by real or perceived environmental contamination.

Growth in many urban centers has created pressure to re-use these brownfield sites. Until recently, banks, insurers, developers, and governments were reluctant to undertake any work on these properties for fear of liabilities.

“Malroz develops cost-effective plan to implement brownfield redevelopment strategies.”

Recent legislation in both the U.S. and Canada, has provided the framework in which these brownfield sites can be put back to constructive use. Brownfield sites can be revamped for continued industrial/commercial use or can be transformed into residential, public parks and recreational areas.
